Academy for Career Enrichment

Welcome

The Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences’ Academy for Career Enrichment is available to all administrative staff to advance their professional development skills. The academy was established to support administrative staff in ongoing, intentional professional development. Participants will be considered graduates of the academy after the completion of one of the ACE courses.

 

ACE Honorarium

  • An award of $250.00, following the completion of an application, stipulating the following:
    • The benefit of professional development activities that you have been engaged in
    • Plan for integrating the knowledge in new ways
    • Evidence of positive outcomes in your department as a result of your new knowledge
    • Professional goals
  • A Fellow will be limited to one submission within five years. Multiple submissions from any individual must include updated professional goals and evidence of implementing a new professional development initiative.

The Academy for Career Enrichment course content will include differentiation of self-perception and the perceptions of others, as well as the optimal presentation of self and presentation skills, the production and consumption of résumés and cover letters, including form and content. The course is 6 weeks in length and includes 3 modules with a final presentation in week 7.

Objectives

  • Relate personal values to NSU core values
  • Explore ways to enhance and set personal and professional goals
  • The art of conducting presentations
  • Explore coworker relationships and the concept of team building
  • Identify ways of enhancing individual contribution in a team environment
  • Enhancing Resume, Cover Letters and Job Search.

The Conflict Prevention and Management for Administrative Staff is designed to empower administrative staff with essential skills to effectively recognize, prevent, and resolve conflicts within an academic environment. Participants will understand different conflict styles comprehensively and develop effective communication techniques for handling disputes involving faculty, students, and colleagues. The course will provide administrative staff with practical tools and strategies to manage conflicts constructively, enhancing their ability to support a positive and inclusive academic environment.

  • Identify different conflict styles
  • Develop effective communication skills, including listening and assertion
  • Explain the impact of culture and frames on conflict perception
  • Analyze conflict situations and apply appropriate resolution approaches
  • Foster collaboration and collegiality within the academic setting
  • Integrate institutional core values into conflict resolution practices
