Message from the Dean

Greetings!

Hal Strough, PhD, ATC, LATWelcome to the Nova Southeastern University Department of Health and Human Performance homepage. We are pleased that you have taken an interest in our programs. There are currently three programs in the department. We have a Master’s of Science in Athletic Training, a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science. Our programs have a lot to offer and prepare you for careers in athletics, fitness, and health. Our faculty are active in teaching, scholarly activity, professional and community service. Should you decide to attend NSU, there are opportunities for you to engage in many of these activities alongside them. We offer laboratory spaces with much of the current technology being employed to assist with your preparation for a career as well as continued studies. Master of Science in Athletic Training (MAST)

The MS in Athletic Training program offers quality classroom, laboratory, hybrid, and online instruction designed to prepare students to become certified athletic trainers who specialize in injury and illness prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for physically active people.

Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training

Are you interested in medicine and have a passion for sports? Take your interests and turn them into your future as a health care professional in athletic training. The athletic training major prepares you for the Board of Certification exam to become a Certified Athletic Trainer (AT).

Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science

The exercise and sport science major grounds students in the movement sciences, which promotes improvements in health, fitness, and/or performance for the physically active. Recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). 

Minors are also available. Our programs meet the standards of national guiding organizations and prepare you for professional certification examinations.
