Dr. Stanley H. Wilson began his employment at NSU in 1996 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy (PT) and transitioned to a number of administrative positions within the college, including chair of the Department of PT, associate dean for rehabilitation services, and associate dean for academic affairs. His academic leadership experience at NSU is complemented by his experience as associate professor and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at Howard University, assistant professor in the Department of PT at Florida International University, and several clinical appointments in South Florida and Virginia. He was appointed to the deanship of the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences at NSU on October 1, 2013 and stepped down from that role on January 28, 2021.

During his almost 25 years at NSU, Dr. Wilson has been the recipient of many awards and has been recognized for his leadership and active participation in professional and community service organizations. As a faculty member, he was awarded the Golden Apple Award for Teacher of the Year on four separate occasions and has maintained an active record of scholarly accomplishments that include author of many peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts and presentations and investigator of grant funded research activities. Additionally, he was awarded the 2019 Distinguished Service award by NSU’s Health Professions Division. His leadership accomplishments include winner of the 2014 Stuey for NSU Executive of the Year, nominated for NSU’s Living the Values Award for Integrity, awarded the Richard. E. Davis Award for Leadership by the NSU Chapter of the Alpha Eta Society, selected by Legacy Magazine in 2014 as one of South Florida’s Top Educators, and again in 2017 as one of “South Florida’s Most Powerful and Influential Black Leaders.” In October 2019, he was appointed a Fellow of the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP).

 Dr. Wilson is, and has been active in service to his profession and the community. He presently serves as a member of ASAHP’s Leadership Committee, member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Educational Leadership Institute Fellowship Work Group. Previously, he served as President of the National Chapter of the Alpha Eta Honor Society, the founding President of NSU Chapter of the Alpha Eta Honor Society. Additionally, he has served the Florida Physical Therapy Association in various capacities including, Co-Chair of the Taskforce on Telehealth, Director of Practice, Director of Cultural Diversity, Member of the Board of Directors (BOD), and BOD representative on the Research Committee. Similarly, he has served the APTA as a member of, the Steering Committee on Physical Therapy and Society Summit (PASS), the Cultural Competence Task Force, and the Ad Hoc committee that developed the APTA’s Faculty Residency. His community service activities include roles as an Allocation Reviewer for the Broward County United Way and a provider of PT services to underserved communities in Florida

 Dr. Stanley Hanson Wilson received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Howard University in 1981, Master of Science in Health Management from St. Thomas University in 1983, and Doctor of Education in Adult Education & Human Resource Development from Florida International University in 2000.
