New Student Orientation

Congratulations to the entering Class of 2026! Let me be the first to welcome you to Nova Southeastern University’s Master of Science in Anesthesia program. You have taken the first steps in your pursuit of a fulfilling career in anesthesia. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing you with the finest resources as well as the best learning opportunities possible.

We are looking forward to working with your class in a collaborative effort that will culminate with your graduation as Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants. The goal of the Anesthesiologist Assistant program is to prepare students for lifelong learning and leadership roles that will benefit the healthcare community. The educational process will be committed to training and educating competent anesthetists who will embrace the anesthesia care team to provide safe, quality, and compassionate anesthesia care to all degrees of illness for the surgical patient.

White Coat Ceremony

Fort Lauderdale Orientation:

Monday, May 13 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Terry Building in the Health Professions Division on the Fort Lauderdale Campus: 3200 S. University Dr. Davie, FL 33328

The White Coat Ceremony will take place Monday, May 13, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. in the Morris Auditorium on the Main Campus of the University.

Summer Courses

Please be sure to purchase the required flash cards for the Medical Terminology course (ANES 5048) as soon as possible and begin studying for your exam which is scheduled during the week of orientation. This is an independent study course.

To better prepare you for your entrance into the AA program, please review the "Anesthesia Mediation Sheet" to familiarize yourself with the common medical abbreviations, terminology, and medications used in the practice of anesthesia.

Please note that you will NOT be registering for summer courses. The program personnel will be completing your registration prior to orientation to ensure timely disbursement of financial aid.

Membership Applications

We require you join four anesthesia organizations that support the Anesthesiologist Assistant profession. Please fill out the three that are provided by the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants, and the Florida Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants. The fourth application, from the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, will be provided to you at orientation. Please follow the links below to complete your membership applications before the first day of class.

White Coats

All White Coats will need to be obtained prior to the date of orientation. As this process can take up to six weeks, please make sure that you have ordered your white lab coats prior to April 6th. To ensure appropriate sizing for your white coat it is recommended that you receive a fitting for your white coats at your local uniform store. Once you have been fitted, you may then proceed with ordering your lab coat at the NSU bookstore website. You can order your white lab coat through the NSU bookstore at https://nsu.fashionsealhealthcare.com/.

Shark Cards

All Shark Cards can be obtained on the day of Orientation at the One Stop Shop on the first level of the HPD building.
