DPT/MBA Dual Degree

Overview

Nova Southeastern University offers students the opportunity to attain their Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and a Master of Public Administration (MBA).

Students can earn their MBA degree concurrent with the DPT degree over 3 years by taking one or two MBA courses per semester. Students will get credit in the MBA program for some courses taken in the DPT program.

Benefits of Concurrent Degrees

The DPT/MBA concurrent degree-path prepares students with a multidimensional skillset that opens a wide variety of doors in the workplace. DPT graduates will be prepared for healthcare leadership positions, setting themselves apart from other graduates. Physical therapists often progress quickly into positions that include the need for supervisory and management skills and require knowledge of financial management, organizational behavior, informational systems, business policy and strategic planning. Many physical therapists also open private practices or become independent contractors or consultants and the knowledge and competence of the business side of practice is needed. The MBA degree will prepare students to better understand the business side of healthcare and be impactful administrators.

Students are eligible to apply to the MBA program on the recommendation of the PT Program Director after the competition of the first semester.

Degree Completion

Students in the concurrent DPT/MBA degree program complete coursework and clinical requirements to satisfy the requirements for each degree.

DPT courses are scheduled during the day while MBA courses are online or in the evenings.

Students who are in good academic standing are eligible to apply after completing the 1st semester of the DPT program.
