Dr. Barbara O’Connor Wells is a Professor and Clinical Supervisor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  She teaches coursework and supervises evaluation and treatment sessions in dysphagia/swallowing disorders, motor speech, and adult language disorders at NSU. Dr. O’Connor Wells earned her Ph.D. in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She has over 28 years of experience with clients of all ages and in various practice settings, from schools, hospitals, university clinics, tele-practice, and home care. She is licensed in both Florida and New York. Her research and clinical interests include swallowing problems, communication problems in bilingual individuals and speakers of Spanish, and the aging brain. She has several journal articles and book chapter publications in scholarly journals and a long history of national and international conference presentations. Dr. O’Connor Wells is the co-editor/author of the book: A Caregiver's Guide to Communication Problems from Brain Injury and Disease. She is a member of the ASHA Advisory Group for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement.
