Doctor of Health Science in Physical Therapy at University of Indianapolis in 2008, with an emphasis in orthopedics and education

Master of Physical Therapy at Midwestern University (MWU) in 1999

Bachelor of Science at Indiana University in 1997

American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Certification in Orthopedics 2010; Recertified in 2020

Credentialed Clinical Instructor 2003

 Teaching

Dr. Otto teaches in the Professional DPT program and serves as faculty for Clinical Practicum courses and Integrated Clinical Education experiences.

 

Scholarly Activities and Research Interests

Dr. Otto’s primary research interests are in student development of critical thinking skills and application in the clinical setting.  Her interests also includes application of cultural competence in the didactic and clinical settings.

Service

Dr. Otto is involved in community health fairs and various events that promote health and physical fitness. She is a member of the MWU Diversity Council which educates and supports students and faculty in online and in-person formats, as it relates to issues of diversity.

 Areas of Practice

Dr. Otto’s primary area of specialty within physical therapy is orthopedics.  She has varied experiences treating patients in inpatient and outpatient settings from the neonate to the geriatric patient in areas of orthopedics, neurology, wound care, burn care, and vestibular therapy.

 

Professional Activity

Dr. Otto is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Section member of Orthopedics and Education.  She is also a member of the Florida Consortium of Clinical Educators and American Council of Academic Physical Therapy.
