Teaching
Dr. Canbek teaches medical terminology for physical therapists, teaches modules in the neuromuscular course series, and neuroscience course in the professional DPT program. She also teaches fundamentals, evidence-based practice and outcome measures, and professional roles courses in the neurological residency program. Dr. Canbek also mentors clinical residents and PhD dissertation students.
Scholarly Activities and Research Interests
Dr. Canbek’s primary research interests include validation of functional performance-based outcome measures in people with stroke; measuring functional performance and outcomes in acute care patients; developing clinical decision making skills in PT students and novice clinicians; and using active and blended learning to enhance retention in PT education.
Service
Dr. Canbek serves in the Boca Boating and Beach Bash for people with disabilities.
Areas of Practice
Dr. Canbek is a clinical mentor in the NSU Neurologic PT Residency program.
Professional Activity
Dr. Canbek is a nominating committee member on the board of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) Clinical Reasoning Curricula and Assessment Consortium and serves as an item writer for Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) - ABPTS.
