Dr. Melba Ovalle graduated from Boston University School of Medicine and completed both her Internal Medicine residency and fellowship in Rheumatology at Albert Einstein Medical Center/ Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York. During her training, she was awarded the distinguished Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for excellence in teaching medical students.
For four years she also worked as a U.S. Public Health Officer and served as the Medical Director for Mount Vernon Health Center in New York. During her public health service, she was awarded the National Award for Excellence in Preventive Medicine by the United States Department of Health & Human Services. For nearly nine years, she worked as the Medical Director of the Osteoporosis & Metabolic Bone Disease Center, Department of Rheumatology in Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Illinois.
Upon moving to Orlando, Florida, she joined the faculty at Nova Southeastern University Physician Assistant Program- Orlando campus as the Associate Program Chair and the Medical Director. She enjoys gardening, hiking and running for Disney's half marathons every year.
