Education:
Sarah Wakefield, Au.D. is the Director of the Audiology Clinic and an Associate Professor in the Department of Audiology at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). She received her Bachelor of Science from Penn State University and earned her Doctorate of Audiology from Nova Southeastern University. Her specialty areas are Central Auditory Processing Disorders and tinnitus.
Dr. Wakefield's primary responsibilities include managing clinical operations within the NSU Audiology Clinic, clinical precepting of first and second-year students, and didactic teaching within the Department of Audiology. She currently teaches coursework and clinical practicum in the areas of auditory processing, tinnitus, counseling, and aural rehabilitation. Dr. Wakefield’s research and presentations focus on auditory processing and tinnitus.
Outside of NSU, Dr. Wakefield has worked at an interdisciplinary clinic specializing in auditory processing and sensory processing disorders, in private practice, and in an ENT/outpatient setting. Additionally, she is active in the community, providing hearing screenings to rural areas in Florida and the Special Olympics.
As a member of the audiology community, Dr. Wakefield is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Audiology and the American Auditory Society. She has also volunteered on several committees for the American Academy of Audiology.
