B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science Recognized by NSCA

ERP Logo

NSU’s Exercise and Sport Science program is endorsed by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in the area of Strength and Conditioning. The NSCA’s Education Recognition Program (ERP) recognizes regionally accredited academic institutions for their educational programs that have met, and continue to meet, educational guidelines recommended by the NSCA. ERP recognitions are good for three years and schools are eligible for renewal following this three-year period.

Many of NSU’s Exercise and Sport Science full-time faculty are certified by the NSCA in strength and conditioning.  Dr. Jose Antonio is a fellow of the NSCA and in 2009, he received the NSCA’s Educator of the Year award. Our faculty and students work closely with NSU’s Strength and Conditioning staff with students earning specialized internships, independent study and practicum experiences. Students have assisted in performance testing and functional training of NSU’s student-athletes. Further, NSU’s Director of Sports Performance, Steve Orris, MS, CSCS, USAW, SCCC, CES, CISSN teaches courses in strength and conditioning as well as is conducting a long term research project assessing body composition in athletes in the Exercise and Sport Science Laboratory.

This well-rounded approach to translating theory into practice is the key component that sets NSU Exercise and Sport Science apart from other academic institutions.
