Dr. Rebecca I. Estes serves in the role of Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy in the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences. She came to NSU from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, on the Austin campus, where she served as Founding Program Director for entry level MOT and OTD programs as well as serving as the Campus Director. In addition to working at NSU, she was at Texas Woman’s University as a faculty member, and at the University of South Alabama where she served as Chair and Program Director. She practiced in a variety of areas during her career and has focused her more recent practice and research on adults with neurological impairments and aging in place. She is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, and was trained as an Assistive Technology Practitioner. She began her OT career as a COTA (Kansas University), holds a BS, MA, and MOT from Texas Woman’s University and a PhD from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has one son and one dog and enjoys the beach, fun and creative arts projects, and driving her convertible with the top down on beautiful Florida afternoons.
