Orientation

Dear NSU Orlando PA Cohort 2026:

Welcome to Nova Southeastern University's Orlando Physician Assistant Program and your first step toward a rewarding and challenging new career as a health care professional. 

The Academic Year will begin on May 23 & May 24, 2024 with a mandatory orientation beginning at 8:00 AM EDT and additional orientation activities on May 26. Classes start on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.  

The faculty and staff are committed to providing you with the finest education as well as the best learning opportunities possible. Our goal is to make your experience at Nova Southeastern the best available in the nation.

Orientation Day Dress Code

Please note that the dress code for all orientation events unless otherwise informed, will be as follows:

Students must dress in professional attire.

  • Professional attire for men includes trousers, shirt, socks, shoes, and a necktie.
  • Professional attire for women includes dresses or skirts of appropriate length or slacks, blouses, and shoes.

Pre-Orientation Assignment:

Medical Terminology Book - Study for a test at Orientation

  • Medical Terminology by Davi-Ellen Chabner. Publisher: Elsevier Health. Latest Edition available at the NSU Library at no cost.

Orientation Days:

  • Bring your laptops- Canvas and Exam Training.

Summer Booklist

Students are responsible for obtaining the textbooks and materials listed on the PA Orlando Summer Booklist

Diagnostic Equipment List

Students in the Physician Assistant Program will be required to have their own diagnostic equipment in order to perform physical examinations. The PA Diagnostic Equipment List will let you know what you need.

Academic Calendar 2024-2025

  • After April 11, you will be informed of the Academic Calendar.

NSU Login ID & Email Account

Please set up your NSU Identity prior to attending Orientation. Students may obtain their SharkLink IDs and email account credentials by visiting http://www.nova.edu/resources/nsuidentity.html.

NSU SharkCard

The NSU SharkCard is the official Nova Southeastern University identification card. All students, faculty, and staff are required to carry the NSU Card for identification purposes. In addition, the card can be used as a library card and for building access. Instructions for completing and obtaining the SharkCard are available through SharkCard Services

Parking Permit Application

All students at the NSU Orlando campus are required to obtain a parking permit. Please go to the main website, scroll down to Parking Permit Application, and click on NSU Public Safety website. Follow the directions. If you have multiple vehicles that you may drive to the school, you will want to complete a section for each one. Parking permit applications can also be obtained in person at NSU Orlando’s Administration Office beginning in May.

Immunization and Physical Exam

Instructions for filling out the immunization and physical exam forms can be found on the main orientation website.

Student Health Insurance

All Nova Southeastern University Health Professions Division (HPD) Physician Assistant students are required to maintain adequate health insurance during their matriculation in the program.  Students are automatically enrolled in the Nova Southeastern University Student Medical Insurance Plan and the charge is assessed to the student account.  For health insurance questions visit: http://www.nova.edu/bursar/health-insurance/index.html or email studenthealth@nova.edu. Waivers and pricing for the year are available after May 1. Students who choose to opt out of the NSU health plan must do so by June 1 by completing the online waiver form

Bookstore
