Dr. Odoo K. McCallum is a dedicated public health leader, educator, and student mentor with over a decade of higher education experience. Dr. McCallum, who is originally from Guyana, joined Nova Southeastern University in 2004 after moving from the Netherlands. He is the Director of Clinical Education for the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences and has taught various introductory courses at the undergraduate level and advanced courses at the graduate level, including health policy and public health leadership. Dr. McCallum previously worked as the Clinical Director of Fort Lauderdale's Physician Assistant Program, where he provided leadership and coordination in the ongoing assessment, development, and evaluation of the program's clinical year curriculum.

During the recent pandemic, Dr. McCallum served as the College's COVID-19 coordinator, working closely with administrators and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the College's response to the COVID-19 pandemic was in accordance with best practices and recommendations. Currently, he serves as the college liaison to the university's Office of Environmental Health and Safety, guiding efforts to ensure compliance with all relevant environmental health and safety regulations.

Dr. McCallum holds a Doctor of Public Health from Capella University and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Maastricht University. This advanced academic training, combined with his certification as a health education specialist, provides a solid foundation for his role as a public health educator and leader, advancing the understanding of public health issues and developing effective evidence-based solutions to address them. His areas of expertise include public health advocacy, and global health.

As a member of the Florida Public Health Association, the American Public Health Association and the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research, Dr. McCallum actively participates in advocacy efforts to improve the health and quality of life of vulnerable populations. His teaching, leadership, and scholarship have earned him several honors, including the Golden Apple Award in 2008, and recent inductions into the National Honor Society for Leadership and Success, the National Alpha Eta Society, and the Pi Alpha Honor Society for Allied Health Professionals.
