Director’s Message

Thank you for your interest in Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Health Science program. NSU is the eighth largest not-for-profit, private university in the United States. The goals and objectives of the Ph.D. in Health Science program are to prepare health care professionals to enter into academic or medical research. The Ph.D. in Health Science program received approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in August 2009.

In the spirit of fostering inquiry, research, leadership and creative professional activity, the mission of the Ph.D. in Health Science is to equip health care professionals with the skills and knowledge to conduct research in a complex society and environment while focusing globally within the framework of health policy. Through an interprofessional educational approach and students’ original research, the vision of the Ph.D. in Health Science is to increase knowledge, contribute to the community, and endeavor to solve health care problems. The Ph.D. in Health Science places emphasis on research core courses such as designing, performing, analyzing, and writing original research.

The inaugural class of the Ph.D. in Health Science program entered in January 2010. The first conferral of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Health Science occurred in September 2014. Ph.D. in Health dissertations reflect the broad field of Health Science. We appreciate your interest in the Ph.D. in Health Science program.
