Comprehensive Examination

The comprehensive examination, which is administered in the Summer and Winter semesters on the main campus in Fort Lauderdale, is a written examination students attempt after the completion of all the required course work, and before beginning the dissertation phase of the Ph.D. program.  It is designed to evaluate the student’s ability to demonstrate knowledge gained during the program and that he/she is a suitable candidate for a PhD degree.  Successful completion of the comprehensive examination is required for students to move to advanced standing and begin the dissertation process.
