Doctor Gunder McClary joined the PA Department in Orlando as an Associate Professor in April 2013. She has served as the Academic Director since 2014. Previously, she served as the Director of Research and Faculty Development at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the MD program at Oceania University of Medicine, Samoa. Prior to changing careers to become a PA, she worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, having earned both a B.S. in Medical Technology in 1995 and a Masters of Health Education (Clinical Pathology) in 1997 from the Medical College of Georgia. In 2008, Dr. Gunder McClary received her Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her entrance into healthcare began in the clinical laboratory profession in 1989 and beside her clinical experience she has worked as a patient educator, a medical writer, curriculum developer and consultant. In 2011, Dr. Gunder McClary, along with her husband, founded Guardian Health Partners, LLC, a medical house-calls program and consulting business. She is a professional medical speaker and also maintains her credentials a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Dr. Gunder McClary’s academic interests include problem-based learning, medical writing, web-based learning and technology in teaching. Clinically, she has practiced urgent care, family medicine and internal medicine and takes a special interest in rural health, geriatrics, palliative care and house calls.
When she is not teaching or seeing patients, Dr. Gunder McClary enjoys spending time with her husband, James, and their four children, cooking, and enjoying a beach day or football game.
